Cubed Steak Sandwiches

These sandwiches were adapted from The Pioneer Woman's recipe Marlboro Man's Favorite Sandwich. The great thing about these sandwiches is that you can add thing or remove things to make the sandwich as you would prefer it. I found the recipe in her book The Pioneer Woman Cooks where she lists the ingredients without measurements so the recipe here is approximately how I make it. I like to serve the sandwich on toasted French rolls, but you can use whatever sandwich roll you prefer.

Cubed Steak Sandwiches

Ingredients
1 lb cubed steak
1 stick of unsalted butter (8 tbsp)
1 medium onion, sliced thin
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp seasoned salt
1/2 tsp lemon pepper
a pinch of salt (adjust to taste)
a pinch of pepper (adjust to taste)
a few dashes of hot sauce (adjust depending on how hot you would like it)
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
4 crusty sandwich rolls

Directions
1. Cut cubed steak into thin strips.
2. Add garlic powder, seasoned salt, lemon pepper, salt, and pepper to the cubed steak. Toss to coat all the steak.
3. Let stand for at least 30 minutes.
4. In a medium frying pan melt 2 tablespoons of the butter over medium heat.
5. Add the sliced onion and sauté until golden.
6. Remove the onion from the pan and put it on a plate.
7. Add 2 tbsp of butter to the pan.
8. Brown the butter.
9. Add the meat to the pan. Cook evenly on each side over medium-low heat for about five minutes.
10. Add 2 tbsp of butter to the meat. Put onions back in pan.
11. Add Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and the last 2 tbsp of butter. Season with salt and pepper if desired.
12. Cover and let simmer for 10 minutes.
13. Toast sandwich rolls. Add the meat to the bread and use any desired condiments (I like to add a little mayo and some lettuce)
